History and ActivitiesWexco Group was founded in Australia in 1979. Wexco Aviation Services is Australian owned. Wexco's major airline representations are Air China, Jat Yugoslav Airlines and Aeroflot Russian International Airlines in Australia. Wexco also handles a large number of dedicated charter flights and small carriers. Wexco Aviation Services activities are solely to support the airline: Airline Cargo Sales and General Sales Agency Wexco has provided sales and support for Jat Yugoslav Airliines cargo throughout Australia and New Zealand. This involved the selling of capacity on twice weekly passenger flights to Belgrade with connections through to Jat's extensive network. When Jat withdrew direct services to Australia, Wexco restructured services to move cargo to Yugoslavia, Europe and the Middle East on Jat utilising on-line service of China Eastern Airlines to Beijing connecting with Jat for on-forwarding to their ultimate destination. Wexco represents Air China in Australia, selling capacity on their six weekly services to the Peoples Republic of China and beyond. Wexco markets Air China space to freight forwarders Australia wide, with our largest markets in Melbourne and Sydney (on-line stations). Wexco handles all bookings for Air China, allocating the cargo space on the services along with handling all tracing and customer relations for the carrier. Air China has enjoyed vast improvements in generated cargo each year. Air China also operates a 747 freighter, which is available for charter work. Wexco has been successful in securing work for the charter services. Wexco is the official representative for Aeroflot Russian Airlines in Australia. Wexco markets and sells space on Aeroflot's offline Asian services ultilizing SPA (Special Payment Agreement) ex Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, Wexco sold space on their twice weekly on-line services. Wexco has also been very successful with negotiating large charter contracts for Aeroflot to all points in Asia, Europe, North America and South America utilising Aeroflot's IL-76F along with larger and smaller Russian freighter aircraft required for specialised work. Our success in handling cargo charters has made this a major part of Wexco's business. Wexco has utilised various freighter aircraft for a large range of products to all points of the globe. Wexco now is called in on charters, which require specialised handling, or where strange or unusual cargo is moving. Wexco is also asked to provide a load master for a number of 747F services, as we have trained and reliable staff ready to fill those requirements. Wexco was also the General Sales Agent for Pan American Clipper Cargo until the airline ceased trading. Wexco had successfully negotiated a contract with Qantas as the on-line carrier, feeding Pan Am services via Los Angeles and San Francisco to the numerous destinations within the USA, Caribbean, Central and South America. Wexco has issued Pan Am waybills to cargo agents Australia wide and operated the carriers business as if it were on-line from Australia. Wexco generated great success in marketing and sales and became one of Pan Am's most successful off-line stations. Wexco provides its airline principals with an all-embracing cargo marketing and revenue collection function, replacing the carrier's fixed overhead of an in-house cargo function with a variable cost which is related entireley to revenue produced. Wexco is not an airfreight forwarder, and its only dealing with commercial houses are when handling enquiries on behalf of the airlines it represents or their forwarder/agents. Wexco offers its airline principal and their agent customers the reassurance of a totally neutral service from a non-competitive operator.
